It is a sad day!

Took the dogs for a short walk today and when it came time to chase the squirrels back up the tree, while Koda was running, something horrible happened to koda's back. He was unable to walk on his back legs and was yelping and "screaming". We rushed him to the emergency room and they diagnosed him with a slipped disk. He is there now and will have surgery tomorrow. I am hoping that surgery was the right thing to do and not simply prolonging the inevitable. Coming from the country, I know what can often happen with dogs when they become debilitated.
After some quick testing the vet did say that he will likely return to a normal lifestyle and be able to walk on his back feet, because no nerve damage was done. But, he couldn't do any jumping or excessive running.
